Our actions to help local communities to combat COVID-19

Since March, when the period of social isolation began in Brazil, CTG Brasil has joined efforts to carry out actions that help to fight the new coronavirus. After all, one of our values is to prioritize life, and not only for our employees, but for society as well.

Check below the actions that our company took over these six months of quarantine to help local communities:

Donation of thermometers

On August 14th, CTG Brasil delivered 20 units of thermometers to the city of Abdon Batista, the region where our Garibaldi HPP is located, to be used in public institutions such as public schools, health centers and social centers. It is estimated that this action has benefited more than 2,600 people.

70% alcohol donation

From May 22nd to August 14th, CTG Brasil collaborated with the Senai Institute for Biomass Innovation (ISI Biomassa, in Portuguese) to produce a total of 18,000 liters of 70% liquid and gel alcohol over three months. Of these 18,000 liters, 6,000 were donated to the Auxiliadora de Três Lagoas and aother 6,000 liters Ilha Solteira Regional hospitals, and the remaining alcohol was used for disinfection at our Jupiá and Ilha Solteira HPPs.

Health equipment donation

CTG, through CTG Brasil, is collaborating in the fight against the coronavirus with the donation of health equipment to assist the Government of the State of São Paulo. On June 1st, the donation term was signed during an online ceremony. Altogether, 105 vital sign monitors, 17 respirators and 10 defibrillators arrived from China and were distributed to public hospitals by the São Paulo State Department of Health.

“The virus has no borders; it is the common enemy of all humanity. CTG is taking care of its operation to continue bringing electricity to homes and hospitals in Brazil and taking measures to protect its employees and society. We are directing efforts to assume social responsibility and contribute to saving lives”, said Chairman and President of CTG Brasil, Zhao Jianqiang, when making the announcement of the donation of health equipment to the State of São Paulo.

Donation to Angelina Caron Hospital

On May 28th, CTG Brasil managed, through the incentive fund Municipal Fund for the Elderly (IMF, in Portuguese), to make a contribution to the Angelina Caron Hospital, located in the city of Campina Grande do Sul, in Paraná. With this action, we were able to help the Hospital structure with its facility to provide care to patients with the coronavirus, providing improvement in the care of severe cases that require intensive therapy, in addition to facilitating the diagnosis and monitoring of COVID-19 in the hospital.
